Rockford Weitz is the Chair of the Board of Directors and Co-Founder of Blue Water Metrics. A serial entrepreneur, he has startup experience in the maritime, Big Data, FinTech, and education sectors. Rockford currently serves as Entrepreneur-in-Residence and Director of the Maritime Studies Program at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He also serves as the President of the Institute for Global Maritime Studies, Inc. He is passionate about bringing trasnparency and quality data to the those who seek to understand the world's last major frontier -- our oceans.

 

Caroline Troein is a Board Director and Co-Founder at Blue Water Metrics. She is Technology and Innovation Researcher at the Institute for Business in the Global Context at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.  She works on issues of technology strategy in the global commons and was instrumental in the creation of Fletcher's Digital Evolution Index. Caroline is excited about data management, strategy, and changing the way we understand the oceans.

 

Sea Thomas is a Board Director and Co-Founder at Blue Water Metrics. A Major in the United States Marines, he serves as an Intelligence Officer and was a speechwriter for the Commandant of the Marine Corps. Sea is a resident of the state of Hawaii and is excited for what Blue Water Metrics' work can do for his home.

Martha Gomez-Hipple is a Business Consultant for Blue Water Metrics. With an academic background from Georgetown University in international relations and trans-state actors, Martha understands the international environment in which Blue Water Metrics operates. Martha advises on business operations using her years of sales experience in the poultry processing industry.

Matthew Merighi is CEO, Executive Director, Board Director, & Co-Founder at Blue Water Metrics. A former Federal Government employee, he worked for five years as a civilian in the Air Force's International Affairs directorate. Matthew is passionate about improving the quality of ocean data both for environmental conservation as well as for business development and improving the livelihoods of coastal communities.

 
 

Jack Whitacre is a Board Director and Co-Founder at Blue Water Metrics. Jack received his Masters degree from the Fletcher School with the thesis, "Oceans, Big Data, and The Internet of Things (IoT)". As a guest researcher at the Iceland Ocean Cluster, Jack produced several publications on sustainable fishing and 100% seafood utilization. Jack hopes to share knowledge, build relationships, and spark insights for Blue Water Metrics in ways that benefit the environment and ocean economy.

 

Andy Clay is Blue Water Metrics' first intern.  A Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy Candidate at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Andy is a former officer in the United States Marine Corps.
